The Rigid Cell has been engineered to provide high-efficiency filtration combined with prolonged life cycles. It is an ideal choice forvariable air volume systems. Being totally rigid, it’s performance is not affected by changes in air velocities or system shutdowns. The high surface area to depth ratio provides a maximum amount of effective filter media in areas of minimum in-line duct space.
The Smith Rigid Cell isavailable in four efficiency ranges, Merv 14, Merv 13, Merv 11 and Merv 9. It is available in a box type (without a header) and also in a single header style. It is designed for use in a wide variety of applications includinghospitals, office complexes, and industrial facilities. High-density microfine glass available upon request.
The filter media used in the Smith Rigid Cell filter consists of high-quality synthetic media which forms a lofted filter blanket. This lofted filter blanket is laminated to a high strength, reinforced backing. This media is then continuously bonded to an expanded metal support grid with 95% open face area. The Rigid Cell incorporates wedge-shaped pleats in its design, assuring maximum utilization of filter media, maximum dust holding capacity and extended filter life. This pleated filter media is reinforced and stabilized through the use of pleat spacers. The result is a rigid, stable filter with consistent performance under a variety of operating conditions.
The Smith Rigid Cell enclosing frame is constructed of high strength, corrosion resistant galvanized steel. A continuous bond between the periphery of the filter pack and the inside of the enclosing air bypass. To maintain filter squareness and protection of the media, a welded wire, face grill is used on the air entering and exiting side of the filter. The rigid cell now comes with plastic fingers and crossbars for more durability.
All rigid cells are built with a standard undercut on all three dimensions. Approximately 5/8" undercut on outer dimensions. If there is a header, headers are approximately 7/8" wide and the filter area will be reduced by that.
