The Mech 8 is the highest rated mechanical washable filter available. It has been independently tested at MERV 8. The pressure drop is rated at .14” w.g. at 1180 cfm. What separates this filter from the competition is it uses mechanical filtration instead of electrostatic.

Test Report

CONSTRUCTION:  The Mech 8 consists of a layer of aluminum expanded material on both sides of a washable specially formulated media. Antimicrobial coating is applied to prevent bacteria and mold growth on the filter. The media is enclosed in a medium weight aluminum frame, mitered and secured at one corner by rivets. The filter is designed for applications such as furnaces, light industrial, commercial, schools, and office buildings. Maximum temperature range on the Mech 8 is 180°F. Available in both standard and special sizes. Available in 1” and 2” thicknesses.

The MECH 8 is built with a 3/8" undercut on the length and width, as is standard for filter sizing.

MATERIAL: Filtering element shall be processed from sheet aluminum, commercially known as 3003-H22, .025 in thickness expanded to .050 strand. Frame shall be made from sheet Aluminum 3003-H14, .040 thickness.

A note about washable filter frame thickness:

All washable filters have the same amount of filtering media no matter the thickness of the filter frame. The frames are available in many sizes to allow users to install the filter into varying widths of tracks, slots, grilles, etc. This eliminates the need for modification of the track/slot/grille/etc. when switching from one type of filter to another, i.e. switching from a 2" thick pleated filter to a washable filter. All washable filters must be washed monthly; so they are made with enough media to work as designed and allow for proper dust holding capacity until the monthly wash is required. A thicker frame on a washable filter does not contain more media nor is the media doubled up or thicker in any way. The advertised efficiency and air flow remains the same throughout all thicknesses of washable filters in each of their respective LxW dimensions. In filtration, the efficiency is the particle size a filter will capture.
